Thanks for your feedback.

As for the orientation, open the Mobipocket application, click on Menu => Options => Display => Screen orientation choose one in the scroll list => OK.

Concerning the other problem, open the Mobipocket application, click on Menu => Options => General => At startup open choose Latest e-book in the scrolling list => OK.
